Retreat 2018

It was satisfying to rekindle our retreat this year! Lots of new people discovering a beautiful place, with a peaceful creek and good practice times! Some of my favorite group photos are below. It's always especially fun when generations of students come together.

In the photo below, cultures come together. I had just returned from Australia with a pamphlet about symbolism in Aboriginal art. Here we have Isabelle, an American of Korean and Taiwanese ancestry, at a creek house in central PA, creating a work inspired by Australian indigenous cultures hand carried across the Pacific. Isabelle's own piece depicts scenes from our retreat. I'll find a way to display it in my office at SU. I didn't return with actual Aboriginal art, but in some ways this is better!
